Migration from earlier versions of iRMX for Windows

iRMX for Windows provides a clean migration path from one version of Microsoft Windows to another, with little or no changes required to the real-time iRMX program. This is true even if your application was designed for the original iRMX for Windows, which ran concurrently with Windows 3.1 and its 16-bit Windows interface.

Your real-time iRMX programs can be moved from 16-bit Windows to the Win32 platform, or from an older Win32 platform to today’s Win32 platform, with little or no change. If your product plans require an upgrade to modern versions of Windows, iRMX for Windows makes the real-time aspect of that upgrade painless and quick.

INtime compatibility

iRMX for Windows is based on INtime technology. This means that as well as the wealth of features available to iRMX for Windows applications, any of the INtime features may also be used. Applications written to run on an INtime system will also run on an iRMX for Windows platform.

Communication between Windows and iRMX for Windows

Windows can be used as an operator interface for real-time iRMX tasks. By using the Windows-to-INtime connection (NTX) or Real-Time Extension (RTE) APIs, a Windows application can communicate with a concurrently running iRMX application program using standard iRMX techniques.
