Microsoft Awards TenAsys 2006 Windows Embedded Partner of the Year

2006 marks the third consecutive year TenAsys has been named as Embedded Partner of the Year in the Independent Software Vendor Category.

Beaverton, OR – May 16, 2006 –  Microsoft Corp. recognized TenAsys as a leading vendor of products for the Windows Embedded marketplace by naming them the Microsoft® Windows® Embedded North American Partner of the Year for 2006. This is the third consecutive year TenAsys has been selected for this award, in the Independent Software Vendor category, for recognition of the importance of their products to developers of Windows embedded applications. By providing a means to enable the use of the Microsoft’s Windows operating system for deterministic, real-time applications, TenAsys is the only software company to receive to receive this award for three consecutive years.

The INtime RTOS for Windows continues to improve and expand to meet the needs of Windows XP Embedded applications. Significant new features for embedded system developers include full source-level debugging of real-time applications within the Visual Studio IDE, a real-time optimized SLD file for configuring Windows XPe images, and support for the Intel® Core™ Duo processor.

Using INtime and Windows on a dual-core processor gives developers all the benefits of a two box solution, minus complexity and excess cost. By dedicating one core to the INtime RTOS and the other to Windows, worst-case timer latency is reduced to as little as three microseconds. Enabling the development of precise, closed-loop control systems on Windows XP Embedded platforms.

In addition to vastly decreased timer latencies, dedicating an RTOS processor on a dual-core system means real-time applications can consume 100% of the available CPU cycles. Meaning that real-time tasks can maximize the number of compute cycles they consume without regard to sharing cycles with Windows. This allows greater complexity in the algorithms that can be deployed, resulting in additional increases in the quality and performance of the control and data acquisition systems that can be implemented by Windows XP Embedded systems.

About TenAsys and INtime

TenAsys delivers real-time technology, tools, and services for embedded applications based on Intel Architecture processors. Since 1980, customers worldwide have entrusted TenAsys’ RTOS products to provide reliable deterministic control of a wide array of mission critical applications including: medical, telecomm, industrial control, robotics, test & measurement, and military. TenAsys’ INtime® software, introduced in 1997, has since become a leading RTOS for use with the Microsoft® Windows® family of operating systems.
